Blender at The Pipeline Conference 2020
On August 11-13th 2020 we had our second "The Pipeline Conference" virtually (We also teamed up with DigiPro this time for a co-located virtual conference on Whova.
Whova provided a way for conference attendees to create discussion forums and also setup meetups. I did both and was able to get some discussion going in the forum and also meet some blenderheads in a video chat (Whova arranged for the meeting using Jitsi)
The following topics came up during our discussions
- Blender <-> Unreal Lighting and Rendering Pipeline
- USD and USDZ workflows
- Rendering passes using EEVEE and Cycles to improve render times
- When to use Cycles and when to use EEVEE
- Blender 2.79 -> Blender 2.80+ workflows
- Generating renders for training machine learning algorithms
- Wave of interest at DreamWorks (modeling department) and some ad-hoc classes have started from a few people.
- I shared the shortfilm Wormstory, that I was part of 7 years ago.
All in all it was a great three days of "The Pipeline Conference" and "DigiPro". If you are interested about what transpired during the conference the following blog posts will fill you in.
